The surface of our planet was once completely covered by snow. The dinosaurs were wiped out when an asteroid hit the planet. However, some animals have survived through these tragic events. Here are some of the strongest yet our favourite animals.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Gharial<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The gharial is a species\nof crocodile and its evolutionary ancient roots connect to other species of\ncrocodiles like the caiman and alligator. The average gharial grows up to 12 to\n15 feet and weighs around 2,000 pounds. Isn\u2019t that big?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Komodo Dragon<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Named after one of the\nislands on which it is found, the Komodo Dragon is the largest existing lizard\nspecies. This creature has existed for tens of millions of years. The species\nis believed to grow as large as 15 feet long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Shoebill stork<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The shoebill stork is also\nknown by another name i.e. Balaniceps rex. Like other animals, this creature\nhas survived for quite some time. The shoebill stork bird is found in Uganda.\nIt might be worth travelling to Uganda to see this bird.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Bactrian camel<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When talking about camels,\nan image of animal shipping people to and from across the North African Sahara\nmight come in your mind. You might probably think of a camel with one hump that\ncarries a lot of water. On the other hand, this animal defies all the\nexpectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Echidna<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This animal is an ancient\nspecies of egg-laying mammal. The animal is closely related to the platypus\nthan to many other mammals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Musk Ox<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The animal is one of those\ncreatures who have evolved for the Arctic. The Musk Ox has a thick coat of fur which\nhelps it to live in the frozen habitat. These animals have a lovely fur coat but the surprising thing is how well these animals adapt themselves to harsh elevated climates.
