Shine on with ethically lab-grown diamonds

You sure must have heard about alchemists and their experiments with alchemy. The supreme goal of alchemy was to invent a stone that could make Elixir of life. But most importantly, alchemy experiments were known for forming the stone that could turn any metal to stone. Interestingly modern witchcraft, which is chemistry for us, has reached almost similar ends.

Compressed coal gemstones to true diamonds

From peanut butter gemstones to diamonds from gas compressions, name it and have it. Youtube is full to the brim with gemstones made from coal in peanut butter, but man-made diamond? Never. Now, you have the honor and privilege to be alive in the era that produces diamonds in laboratories. Astonishingly, these lab born diamonds are so visibly startling and have expertly cut refracting surfaces that you can never distinguish them from the real, mined glittery rocks. Developed in the labs of London, these not so artificial diamond counterparts are prepared in a mere couple of days. These are not expensive in comparison to the real ones.

The beginning of lab-made diamonds

The process was developed first by Oliver Williams, a distinguishable figure of Cardiff University, to study and research on semiconductors. Diamond sheets proving to be a good medium to uphold research, Williams included its formation in his experiments. The same process that is utilized in the production of the diamond sheets is employed to make the sparkly lab born diamonds equal to natural crystals.

Reactions

The process requires hydrogen and methane. When the gases are heated to extreme temperatures, a minuscule fraction of a millimeter of the gemstone is obtained over an hour. The miracle happens when carbon atoms are liberated through the reaction of methane and hydrogen build over and thus form the lab born diamonds.

Mr. Williams revels in his untraditional success of a man-made diamond. The extremely slow process of diamond formation by natural process, is now beaten by a man-made diamond in a ‘not so tedious’ pace, is similar to besting nature itself. He continues by saying that the artificial production of real diamonds is like working to perfect nature and also immensely succeeding. His emotional gratification is greatly boosted by this discovery. Mastering the art of artificial production, but a genuine product that is otherwise not traditionally cultivated, has left Williams on cloud nine!

Other sellers and appreciators of this artificial production, along with the London University, are the jewelers Savvy + Sand. The appreciation of this discovery by renowned London jewelers sheds light on how genuine the produce of these gemstones will be.

The mining rights and it’s environmental and human rights considerations have left the mining industry in a bit of a tight zone. Owing to this fact and also that the lab produced diamonds are not extremely expensive, the market of these gemstones is growing rapidly. Though currently, the business is worth a mere 10 percent of the glittering rock community, there is no wonder that the credit will only grow over time.

Notwithstanding the miracle that this man-made diamond is, a few people choose to rely more on the complex tales that come with naturally mined diamonds. However, people concerned with the issues of mining and landslides in the adjacent areas will see the worth that this diamond grown in lab promises. But if you are still wondering, here you go!

How genuine can an untraditional product be?

Diamonds shine so brightly when their edges are cut to those perfect angles that capture light and reflect it throughout its surface. The only composition of a diamond is carbon, which in nature, too, comes from hydrogen and methane reactions. Similarly, the man-made counterpart is nothing but carbon. Though, with the added benefit of no environmental consequences and higher ethics, the diamonds of a lab can be considered to be even better. There is no point we can differentiate the difference between them. Though the sentiment is also worth the value if you do not have a major bank account to exploit, choose the more reasonable option and shine!
