Earth’s history is full of thunderous events. The surface of our planet was once completely covered by snow. The dinosaurs were wiped out when an asteroid hit the planet. However, some animals have survived through these tragic events. Here are some of the strongest yet our favourite animals.

  • Gharial

The gharial is a species of crocodile and its evolutionary ancient roots connect to other species of crocodiles like the caiman and alligator. The average gharial grows up to 12 to 15 feet and weighs around 2,000 pounds. Isn’t that big?

  • Komodo Dragon

Named after one of the islands on which it is found, the Komodo Dragon is the largest existing lizard species. This creature has existed for tens of millions of years. The species is believed to grow as large as 15 feet long.

  • Shoebill stork

The shoebill stork is also known by another name i.e. Balaniceps rex. Like other animals, this creature has survived for quite some time. The shoebill stork bird is found in Uganda. It might be worth travelling to Uganda to see this bird.

  • Bactrian camel

When talking about camels, an image of animal shipping people to and from across the North African Sahara might come in your mind. You might probably think of a camel with one hump that carries a lot of water. On the other hand, this animal defies all the expectations.

  • Echidna

This animal is an ancient species of egg-laying mammal. The animal is closely related to the platypus than to many other mammals.

  • Musk Ox

The animal is one of those creatures who have evolved for the Arctic. The Musk Ox has a thick coat of fur which helps it to live in the frozen habitat. During the mating season, this animal emits a strong odour that makes everybody nearby flee immediately.

  • Vicuna

Vicunas are found in Andes Mountains. These animals have a lovely fur coat but the surprising thing is how well these animals adapt themselves to harsh elevated climates. The thick fur coat keeps them warm in the most frigid of environments.

So, these were some of the crazy yet beautiful creatures. I hope you liked the article.
